Relincho is the Company's flagship property. Located approximately 663 kms north of Santiago and 50 kms northeast of Vallenar, in Region III, Chile, the property is close to the regional infrastructure necessary to support a large scale mining operation.
The property contains approximately 20,336 hectares of mineral rights and has seen small-scale mining since the early 1900's. Porphyry style copper and molybdenum mineralization was discovered by Outokumpu, a Finnish smelting company, in the mid 1990's. Outokumpu conducted an extensive drill program that included 43,968 meters in 161 holes, with the majority of the drill exploration work focused on the Relincho target area.
Global began exploration including a surface mapping and sampling program on the property in May 2006 and initiated a drill exploration program in July of that year. The program focused on delineating a NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate on the oxide mineralization while expanding the existing NI 43-101 sulphide mineral resource estimate. The current interim NI 43-101 oxide and sulphide mineral resource estimates was completed in Dec 2007 and is shown in the table below.
(The NI 43-101 technical report for the interim resource estimate can be downloaded above)
During the next year, the Company will continue to explore and upgrade the existing mineral resources. At the same time the Company will undertake the necessary technical studies to complete a NI 43-101 compliant Preliminary Economic Assessment and, if successful, a NI 43-101 compliant Prefeasibility Study.
